Tastemakers: BBC Radio 1Xtra's Kaylee Golding

Our latest Tastemaker is BBC Radio 1Xtra's Kaylee Golding, who can't get enough of emerging Birmingham talent Jordvn Emanuel. Find out why here...

I am excited by all of the talent coming out of Birmingham right now, but one artist in particular, Jordvn Emanuel, continues to impress me with every single release. I love his lyrical ability, which clearly comes from his poetry and spoken word background, and I especially love how he combines hip-hop and soul. It’s the fresh take that the UK rap scene needs right now.

Earlier this year, he dropped his debut album Calls From All Your Olders. He worked with some incredible fellow West Midlands artists such as Romey Five, Yatez & Madi Saskia. My favourite track is Cooked Food featuring Madi Saskia, her vocals are so beautiful and you can really hear their chemistry.

For me, it’s always important to see artists live, firstly to support them, but also to check out their performance ability. I saw Jordvn Emanuel open up for Dapz On The Map earlier this year and was truly taken aback. Every lyric was delivered with clarity and conviction, alongside great stage presence. I can’t wait to see his headline shows.

Jordvn Emanuel is definitely one to keep an eye on and I truly believe he can be one of the UK’s next hip-hop stars.
