DF Concerts boss Geoff Ellis has spoken to Music Week about the "rapid rise" of Gerry Cinnamon as the singer/songwriter announced a string of UK dates for 2020.
Cinnamon sold out his biggest headline show to date at Glasgow's Hampden Park within hours last month. The 34-year-old will play the 50,000-capacity show at Scotland’s national football stadium on July 18 next year, promoted by DF.
The Scot performed on the main stage at Trnsmt 2019 before headliner Stormzy and plays two hometown shows at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow, from December 20-21.
"With Gerry, we've never put a show on sale and thought, 'We've really got to build this up'," said Ellis. "I said last year, when I booked him for Trnsmt to play penultimate to Stormzy, that we could sell out Hampden with him and I meant it, but it was just too early.
"We're doing Hampden next year and it sold out in a morning. That's so unusual for somebody without a major label, and it's not just in Glasgow that it's working for him."

Cinnamon's self-released 2017 debut album Erratic Cinematic (Little Runaway) is certified gold, having moved 134,282 copies to date, according to the Official Charts Company. Last week he unveiled the title track for his forthcoming second album The Bonny, which is slated to come out in April.
Repped by CAA's Andy Cook, Cinnamon has now announced a string of arena and outdoor shows for next summer, including a London date at Alexandra Palace and a headline set at the Belsonic festival in Belfast.
"I've not seen an artist connect as well with people on the street since Oasis really," added Ellis. "We had Gerry on the Kings Tut's Stage in the first year of Trnsmt before millions knew about him. His rise has been rapid and the demand has always outstripped supply."
