Avicii's father Klas Bergling is to discuss mental health in an interview with BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong at this month's International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza.
Real name Tim Bergling, Avicii took his own life in Muscat, Oman, in April 2018 at the age of 28. The Swedish DJ had retired from touring in 2016 for health reasons.
IMS co-founder Tong paid an emotional tribute to the "special talent" at last year's conference, and on May 23 this year he will be joined by Klas Bergling (pictured), who will share his thoughts on how to avoid more unnecessary loss of life and discuss the work of the Tim Bergling Foundation in the field of mental illness and suicide prevention.
A keynote topic at this year’s summit, held from May 20-26, is The Mental Health Crisis Debate, which will also feature artist and mental health campaigner Professor Green and DJ and producer Luciano in a discussion on what the music industry can do to protect the health of all those that work within it. They will be joined by mental health experts including Your Green Room owner Clare Scivier, and former MIA drummer Madame Gandhi.
