Bear’s Den - Red Earth And Pouring Rain
The new Bear’s Den record, Red Earth And Pouring Rain, is out on July 22. Luckily it’s being put out on Communion Records, which means I’ve had the pleasure of listening to it over and over again ahead of its release.
The record feels like a band evolving and developing without forgetting who they’ve become after the release of their first album, Islands, in 2014. It’s the exact follow up you want from the band.
Andrew Davie continues to write devastatingly beautiful heart-wrenching love songs – lyrically, I think it’s his best work. Sonically, the record is much deeper, much fuller. Everything is just a little bit bigger from the choruses, vocal harmonies, drums and production.
That’s also echoed on stage as the live set up is now a six-piece. There are ‘80s inspired moments, which could sit on a Don Henley record, and you’ll also find The War on Drugs references on the record. Good. Very Good.
